A mouth to mouth resuscitator comprises a tubular member 11 having ends 12 and 13 curved in opposite directions, at least one of the ends being adapted to be inserted in a patient's mouth, and a flange 15 between the ends, the distance between the tip 18 of the end 12 to be inserted in the patient's mouth and the flange 15 being approximately the linear distance from the patient's lips to the base of his tongue, i.e. about four inches. As shown, Fig. 1, a reinforced straight section 14 carries the flange 15 which receives or is integral with a mouth mask 17, formed of flexible material such as polyethylene or rubber. The shorter end 13 may be inserted in the mouth of a child patient, the mask being removed and reversed or, preferably, inverted in situ. Examples of materials from which the tubular member 11 may be formed are stainless steel, hard rubber, and polyethylene. |
