The present invention relates to a method for the detection, identification and/or characterization of oncofetal antigens expressed by cancer cells using a library of antibodies raised against and specific for human embryonic stem cells wherein the method comprises carrying out an immunochemical reaction between the antibodies and the oncofetal antigen.
