<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochromic compound which develops a yellow color and a display element having good memory effect, high white reflectance, and low voltage drivability. <P>SOLUTION: The display element 1 is obtained by bonding a compound 5 of formula (1) (wherein R<SB>2</SB>is a divalent hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent; X is a functional group; Z<SB>1</SB>-Z<SB>6</SB>and Y<SB>1</SB>-Y<SB>4</SB>are each hydrogen, halogen or a monovalent substituent and may be the same or different; R<SB>1</SB>is a monovalent hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent and may contain a hetero atom group as a substituent in R<SB>1</SB>and the hetero atom group may be the functional group X; and A-B is a monovalent counter anion and A and B may be the same or different) to the surface of a display electrode 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
