<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface mounted crystal oscillator capable of improving heat radiating characteristics while ensuring impulse resistance or water-proof characteristics due to resin sealing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The surface mounted crystal oscillator includes: a container body 1 in which recesses 13, 14 are formed; a crystal piece 3 housed inside the recess 13 of the container body 1; and an IC chip 2 electrically connected with the crystal piece 3 and housed in the recess 14. The IC chip 2 in the recess 14 is hermetically sealed by a sealing resin 20 and on the surface of the sealing resin 20, a heat radiating member 21 is provided for radiating heat, that is generated in the IC chip 2, to the outside.
