The present invention relates to a backlight unit for a liquid crystal display (LCD) apparatus and particularly to a composite sheet with improved hot spots that enables suppression of hot spots and bright lines that occur at a light source and an incident light part and improvement of brightness and brightness uniformity, and to a backlight unit using the same. The present invention comprises a diffusion layer wherein diffusion members are included, and a pattern part layer that is formed integrally with said diffusion layer and comprises a plurality of optical patterns that are repeatedly arranged on the opposite face, wherein said optical pattern is formed in a triangular prism shape, and the apex of at least one of peak and valley of the triangular prism is formed in a round shape.
