The present invention relates to a method for preparing a material in the form of an interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) combining a physical fibrin gel and a polyethylene glycol (PEG) network. The invention also relates to materials that can be obtained by said method as well as to the use thereof as dressings for wounds, surgical dressings, as a device for delivering therapeutic agents, as a covering for medical devices such as stents, heart valves, catheters, prosthetic vascular filters, etc. Said materials can also be used for eukaryotic cell cultures or even as a medium for active molecules such as antibiotics or enzymes.
