<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To well cool the front end of a plasma igniter in an internal combustion engine including the plasma igniter. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine includes the plasma igniter 100 in which a nozzle hole allowing a chamber for generating plasma to communicate with the inside of a cylinder is formed at the front end thereof. The engine further includes a fuel injection valve 105 for injecting a fuel directly into a cylinder.
