The method involves supplying an elastomer material made conveyor belt (1) to a cleaning station (5) for cleaning the conveyor belt. The cleaned conveyor belt is guided to a repair drum (6) in a running direction (X) such that a carrying-sided cover plate (2) is turned towards a drum body (7), where the carrying-sided cover plate is provided in the conveyor belt. A curved conveyor belt section of the conveyor belt is made to remain on the repair drum for 5 minutes, where the repair drum is arranged in the proximity of a discharging roller (4).
