The method involves determining a supply pressure provided by a pump (4) for driving a hydraulic motor of a hydraulic transmission such that an actual supply pressure provided by the pump is determined. The actual supply pressure is determined from a measured/estimated actual control pressure for the pump and from a measured/estimated actual delivery volume of the pump for revolutions based on a characteristic diagram. Operation of a drive train is controlled and/or regulated based on the determined supply pressure.
