PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a ringing signal and a polarization inversion signal when saving energy, by simple circuit configuration. SOLUTION: A modem apparatus 20, used while being connected to a body 10 of a communication apparatus via a system bus 12, includes: a DSP 20 which is connected to a secondary-side DAA21 (Data Access Arrangement) of a semiconductor DAA for controlling a line network and for transmitting/receiving data, and which performs modulation/demodulation of the data transmitted/received; a signal latch section 32 for latching a signal on the basis of an input signal from the secondary-side DAA 21 when a DSP 31 operates in a low-power mode.
