PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of performing optimal photographing without depending upon a photographing environment and without compressing dynamic range. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is provided with a first amplifying means (105 or 108) for amplifying an image signal from an imaging element 103, a correcting means (114) for performing dark shading correction to the image signal amplified by the amplifying means, and a second amplifying means (115) for amplifying the image signal corrected by the correcting means. The imaging apparatus is also provided with an amplification factor control means (122) to switch or change the distribution between an amplification factor of the first amplifying means and an amplification factor of the second amplifying means in accordance with photographing conditions, such as the temperature of the imaging element and exposure time.
