<p>Provided are an optical element and a light-emitting device with which the illuminated area can be expanded in spite of a small light-emitting area, and that also enable the device to be downsized. The light-emitting device is equipped with sheet-like light-guide sections (a first light-guide section (2) and a second light-guide section (3)) for guiding light, and a light-emitting member (LED 30) for emitting light. The second light-guide section (3) has a prism section (22) with a saw tooth-like cross-section for changing the direction of the light guided to one of its surfaces. In the prism section (22), the angle of incidence (d) at which parallel light guided to the second light-guide section (3) enters reflective surfaces (24) of saw teeth (23) at positions away from the LED (30) is set to be greater than the angle of incidence (d) at which the light enters the reflective surfaces of the saw teeth (23) at the side toward the LED (30). In addition, in the prism section (22), the angle of protrusion (?) of the saw teeth (23) at positions away from the LED (30) is set to be greater than the angle of protrusion (?) of the saw teeth (23) at the side toward the LED (30).</p> |
