<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically adjust the microphone gain of a communication device based on a noise level. <P>SOLUTION: A cellular phone 100 includes a control unit 108, a digital signal processor (DSP) 110, a transmitting/receiving unit 112 and a microphone gain control unit 113. The cellular phone 100 is provided with capability of automatically adjusting the gain of a microphone 102 based on a detected noise level. As the noise level increases, the gain of the microphone 102 automatically decreases, thereby a natural tendency that the user of the telephone 100 speaks in a loud voice in noisy environment is compensated. Further, the cellular phone 100 includes a speaker 104 and the gain of the speaker 104 is adjusted so as to be increased in response to the increase of background noise level. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
