PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition for an optical film that excels in selective transmittance of polarized light, more specifically, a resin composition which can be utilized for a polarized-light scattering type optical member usable for equipment, using optical characteristics and a mechanism component using light with which the member is combined. SOLUTION: In the resin composition for an optical film comprising 1-30 wt.% of one or more kinds of acicular or columnar fine particles having an average size of their minor axes of 1-70 nm and an average size of their major axes of 100-500 nm and 70-99 wt.% of a transparent polymer, the optical film is such that the haze value is ≥10% and the rate of luminance improvement is ≥1%.
