<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a device for detecting the color of a contact object in contact and to prevent lowering of sensitivity and deterioration of resolution while ensuring the size of a sensor area. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The device has a plurality of picture element circuits 31, a liquid crystal panel 301 with a built-in sensor including a plurality of optical sensors 6, at least one of which is provided to each of the picture element circuits 31, an image display processing section 18 for coloring the picture element circuits 31 contained in a region PP one by one by an R picture element circuit 31r to a B picture element circuit 31b, a scan processing section 12 for scanning an image of a pen P which comes into contact with the liquid crystal panel 301 with a built-in sensor by using each optical sensor 6 every time the image display processing section 18 colors the picture element circuits 31 contained in a region PP in the R picture element circuit 31r to the B picture element circuit 31b and a color decision processing section 14A for detecting the color of a contact part on the liquid crystal panel 301 with a built-in sensor of the pen P based on each image of the pen P, which is scanned by the scan processing section 12 every color development in the R picture element circuit 31r to the B picture element circuit 31b.
