<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clathrate which has a high content of nitrogen- and boron-containing compound serving as a guest compound and releases an increased amount of hydrogen, and a method for producing the clathrate. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the clathrate, the nitrogen- and boron-containing compound serving as a guest compound is included in bis(dicyclohexylamide) diphenate serving as a host compound, provided that the amount of the nitrogen- and boron-containing compound contained in the clathrate is ≥1 mass%. The clathrate can be readily produced by dissolving bis(dicyclohexylamide) diphenate and the nitrogen- and boron-containing compound in an organic solvent so as to achieve nitrogen- and boron-containing compound concentration of ≥0.1 mol/L and by bringing them into contact with each other.
