The present patent application relates to a shock-absorbing stopping device for rolling shutters or blinds, in which the kinetic energy of the shutter during its uncontrolled descent is dissipated by deformation of elastic elements (6) compressed by a rotary ring (2) provided with one or more external facets (5) and driven into rotation by a rotor (1 ) coupled with the winding shaft of the shutter only in case of excessive rotational speed of said shaft.
