DEVICE AND METHOD FOR GENERATING TERAHERTZ WAVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for generating terahertz waves with high efficiency.

SOLUTION: The device includes: a pulse light source 1 that generates a short-pulse laser beam having a pulse time width of 350 fs to 10 ps and pulse energy of 2μJ to 1μJ; a pulse front tilt means 2 that tilts the pulse front PF0of the short pulse laser beam generated from the pulse light source 1 by a predetermined angleαwith respect to the plane orthogonal to the optical axis z1; and a nonlinear crystal 3 that receives the incident short pulse laser beam having the pulse front tilted at an angle by the pulse front tilt means 2 and generates the terahertz waves.
