<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frame of a robot reduced in weight compared with a prior art while it has an adequate strength and a heat dissipating property, and also to provide a robot. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This invention relates to a structural material for an arm of a robot storing a heat generating source inside the arm. It includes: a framework layer 4 laminated so that the fibrous directions of fiber reinforced plastic made of a matrix resin and a reinforcing fiber are differentiated; and a heat dissipating layer 5 formed on the surface of the framework layer 4, and shaped so that the fibrous directions of the fiber reinforced plastic are continued between the inner side and the outer side of the arm.
