The device (1) has a plate-shaped or annular flat accommodating unit (2) for accommodating a container, and a holder (3) for moving the accommodating unit into a horizontal operating position and into a hanging position in which the accommodating unit is vertically arranged. The device is formed like a hanging file, and the holder has a pivot bearing unit (5) movable along and pivotable at a rail guide (4) for functioning as a divider and/or a retainer. A stop unit (6) and the pivot bearing unit are arranged at opposite ends of the accommodating unit.
