FIELD: chemistry. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to oligonucleotide probes and their compositions which can be used to analyse the representative sample of a genome. An algorithm is proposed, which employs genome transformation and an auxiliary data structure for fast and accurate calculation of the quantity of a specific nucleotide motive in a genome. Such an algorithm can be used to identify oligonucleotide probes according to this invention.
