<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: it is difficult to display advanced information while maintaining ease of operation of a display device. <P>SOLUTION: When displaying one page of a newspaper article, a magazine or the like by using hierarchical data 380, a guidance region 392(represented by a line 386 in hierarchical data 380) is set in a scenario setting file in an article unit. Furthermore, a plurality of guidance regions 394 and 396 (respectively represented by lines 388 and 390) so that articles from the beginning to the end can be traced in the lower hierarchy, that is, a hierarchy having resolution to such an extent that it is possible to decipher characters. Then, a display image is guided to a guidance region 392 according to a broadening instruction from a user (arrow F). Then, the display image is guided to the guidance region 394 of the heading of the article according to the further broadening instruction (arrow G).
