<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent electrode excellent in surface smoothness, conductivity, and transparency, ant yet with high productivity as well as its manufacturing method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The transparent electrode with a conductive layer containing metal nanowire on a transparent support body is provided with a polymer layer made of at least either water-soluble polymer or aqueous polymer emulsion at an under-layer adjacent to the conductive layer, with at least a part of the metal nanowire embedded in the polymer layer.
