The actuator has an armature (1) made of a magnetically conductive material, where the armature is slidably arranged in an armature guide tube (2) toward a longitudinal axis of the armature guide tube. Coil windings (3), insulating material (4) and a C-shaped yoke (5) e.g. sleeve, partially surround the armature guide tube and operate movement of the armature toward the longitudinal axis of the armature guide tube by applying an electric current, where the armature guide tube is made of magnetically ferritic high-grade conductive steel. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an electromagnetic actuator.
