<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it is more difficult to search a camera than on the ground if the camera is dropped in water since visibility is unfavorable due to deterioration in the transparency of water or the like in an underwater environment, and various shapes, colors, coral, seaweeds, etc. exist on the bottom of the sea. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Acceleration applied to an imaging apparatus is detected to acquire acceleration information and the drop of the imaging apparatus in water is detected from a relation between compared results of the acceleration information with a plurality of reference acceleration degrees, and a detection time. When the drop of the imaging apparatus is detected, a user is informed of the position of the imaging apparatus by using a light-emitting means and/or a sound means.
