The cleaning device has a cleaning area for each yarn sleeve (5), where each cleaning area has a sleeve pot (3) for receiving a yarn sleeve. A suction funnel is provided at the sleeve pot, where an intake channel (8) has a deflection (10) with yarn contact surface. A suction tube ends in the yarn contact surface for suction of yarn residues. An independent claim is included for a method for removal of yarn residues from yarn sleeves.
