PURPOSE: A side air bag apparatus for a vehicle is provided to prevent a passenger from being hurt by the initial inflating pressure of an air bag by surrounding a part of an air cushion. CONSTITUTION: A side air bag apparatus for a vehicle comprises an air cushion(10) and a cushion pressure control member(20). When a gas flows in the vehicle side collision, the air cushion is swelled and is inflated between a passenger(30) and a door(40). The cushion pressure control member surrounds at least a part of the air cushion from the outer side of the air cushion. The air cushion is inflated using the optimal pressure since the cushion pressure control member restricts the expansion size of the air cushion.
