An optical scanning apparatus includes a light source (Ly, Lm, Lc, Lk) configured to emit a light beam, a rotational polygonal mirror (22) configured to deflect the light beam emitted from the light source (Ly, Lm, Lc, Lk), so as to scan an object, a drive unit (23) configured to drive the rotational polygonal mirror to rotate, an optical element (24) configured to guide the light beam reflected by the scanning rotational polygonal mirror towards the object to be scanned, a storage chamber (20) configured to accommodate the rotational polygonal mirror (22) and the optical element (24) therewithin, and a wall (27) configured to partition a space inside the storage chamber (20) into a first space in which the rotational polygonal mirror is installed and a second space in which the optical element (24) is installed, wherein the wall has an opening (28) through which air can pass and the opening is configured to send the light beam reflected by the scanning rotational polygonal mirror, and the wall has a vent (29) which is different from the opening and configured to send at least a part of the air that has passed through the opening to the first space when the rotational polygonal mirror is rotating.
