An improved heat insulated container having a heat insulated holding section. To make the holding section, either of upper and lower sections of an outer sleeve is fitted in a fixed manner over a container body, and then slit section formed on the outer sleeve and having slits are vertically compressed to make the slit section protrude outward and become the holding section. A deformable shrink film is attached to the inner wall surface of the outer sleeve. The deformable shrink film has an upper part, an intermediate part, and a lower part. The upper part of the film is secured to that portion of the outer sleeve which is located above the slit section, the intermediate part covering the slit section is not secured to this slit section, and the lower part is secured to that portion of the outer sleeve which is located below the slit section. The deformable shrink film is shrunk to cause the slit section to protrude outward from the outer sleeve.
