952,656. Medical inhalers. PFIZER Ltd. Jan. 11, 1963 [Oct. 11, 1961], No. 36490/61. Heading A5T. An appliance for use in inhaling powder comprises a movable chamber 9 having a perforated bottom 10, all the apertures 11 of which, except for one adjacent a powder-containing capsule 7, are normally closed by a baffle plate 12. When the patient inhales, through the outlet in the end piece 1, air initially enters through a central orifice 6, entrains powder as it passes through the capsule 7 and carries the powder into the chamber 9. Continued inhalation also lifts the chamber 9 away from the baffle 12, against the action of a spring 13, so that additional air passes through the remaining apertures 11 and carries the powder forward into the patient's lungs. |
