<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biopsy device which prevents the tissue of an object to be examined from being damaged due to erroneous operation or malfunction. <P>SOLUTION: The biopsy device includes: a support base (36) for supporting the object (28)to be examined; a compression plate (38) for compressing and holding the object (28) to be examined against the support base (36); a biopsy needle moving mechanism for moving a biopsy needle (52) to pierce the biopsy part of the object (28) to be examined through an opening (44) formed on the compression plate (38) in a plane along the compression plate (38) and in directions perpendicular to the compression plate (38); a determining section (84) for determining whether or not the biopsy needle (52) has pierced the object (28) to be examined; and a movement limiting section (82) for limiting movement of the biopsy needle (52) within a plane perpendicular to the piercing direction of the biopsy needle (52) when the determining section (84) determines that the biopsy needle (52) has pierced the object (28) to be examined. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
