<p><PICT:0956204/C3/1> <PICT:0956204/C3/2> In a process and apparatus for the induction heating of an elongate cylindrical article by axial movement of an encircling inductor block thereover, concentricity of block and article is ensured by suspending the latter from one end and guiding it with respect to the former at a region closely adjacent to the area being heated. As illustrated article 23 is suspended by chuck device 24 and hook 27 from hook 30 supported by cable 31, and is guided with respect to inductor block 18 by means of ceramic spacers 47 mounted on the latter. Accurate initial location of the article is effected by tapered block 35 surrounding hook 30, which engages in the recess in guide member 36.</p> |
