PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for sticking a saddle stitching booklet or a plane stitching booklet with paste and book-binding the same by an inexpensive and simple configuration of this device and easily switching between the manufacturing of the product to be saddle stitched and the manufacturing of the product to be plane stitched. SOLUTION: This manufacturing device includes mark sensors 18, 19 for reading a book-binding mark on a running path of continuous paper with a printed book-binding mark, paste applying devices 22, 23 being operated by control signals based on the reading signals of the mark sensors and applying paste by line on a front side face and a rear side face becoming a folded-down piece alternately at the center in the direction of width of the continuous paper for the saddle stitching booklet or on every one piece of the front side face and the rear side face of part becoming the folded-down piece alternately on one side in the direction of width of the continuous paper for the plane stitching booklet, a cutting device 24 for cutting by the number of folded pieces indicated by the manufacturing marks, a first blade-folding device 2 for folding down the cut continuous paper for the saddle stitching booklet or the plane stitching booklet by each folded-down piece to prepare an intermediate product, and a second blade-folding device 4 for folding the intermediate product for the saddle stitching booklet at its middle point and letting the intermediate product for the plane stitching booklet pass through without stopping it.
