PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus for accurately calculating a stroboscope light emission quantity when imaging a moving body. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is provided with: a stroboscope for performing pre-emission corresponding to the operation of a release button and light emission upon main imaging to be performed after the pre-emission; and an operation part for discriminating whether or not the moving body is included in a plurality of frame images and specifying the motion vector of the moving body. When determining that the moving body is included in the plurality of frame images, the operation part calculates the area of the moving body estimated in a first frame image obtained by first imaging not accompanied by the light emission of the stroboscope and the area of the moving body estimated in a second frame image obtained by second imaging accompanied by the pre-emission of the stroboscope on the basis of the motion vector, and calculates the light emission quantity of the stroboscope in the main imaging on the basis of the luminance value of the area of the moving body in the first frame image and the luminance value of the area of the moving body in the second frame image.
