The arrangement (2) has sensors (1) e.g. magneto-elastic sensors, arranged in rows, where the arrangement is aligned transverse to a motion direction (4) of a laminated, rolled metal sheet (3). The arrangement comprises a length, which corresponds to a breadth of the metal sheet. The magneto-elastic sensors detect magnetic characteristics of the metal sheet, and the sensors are positioned in a constant distance to the metal sheet. A non-magnetizable distance piece is provided between the sensor and the metal sheet.
