The method involves determining current measurement-offset error at a zero crossover time by comparison of an estimated charge with the detected storage battery current (12). The battery current is compensated according to current measurement-offset error. A current measurement scaling error is determined at the maximum time point by comparison of the estimated charge with the detected current. The determined current-measurement offset error is derived from the comparison result, and the storage battery current is compensated based on the current measurement-scaling error. An independent claim is also included for a device for error-compensated current measurement of the electrical storage battery.
