<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling a backlight module, capable of determining whether a backlight module provided in a liquid crystal screen is turned off, based on whether a user is located in front of the liquid crystal screen. <P>SOLUTION: The method for controlling the backlight module includes: a step 110 of activating an imaging apparatus; a step 120 of capturing an image in front of the liquid crystal screen at predetermined intervals; a step 130 of determining whether there are human facial features in the image in front of the liquid crystal screen; a step 140 of recording the time, at which the image is captured when there is no human facial feature detected in the image; a step 150 of calculating the accumulated time, during which there has been no human face that continuously appears in the image; a step 160 of determining whether the accumulated time is longer than the time with which the backlight is turned off; and a step 170 of turning off the backlight module of the liquid crystal screen, when the cumulative time is longer than the turn-off time for backlight. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
