摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical communication system and a transmission output control method in which a light transmission output can be established in a simple method and in a short time in the optical communication system using a star coupler. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical communication system, a light transmitter 1s of a master station 1 becomes an error measuring mode after starting, transmits a test pattern signal memorized in a mode slave station 3 side by the maximum output, and repeatedly transmits decreasing the transmission output step by step by a predetermined level difference. The slave station 3 compares and checks it with the standard test pattern signal memorized beforehand, investigates a bit error rate, and transmits an alarm of error occurrence to the master station 1 at a time point detecting the error of about 10<SP>-5</SP>, and the master station 1 starts normal operation to carry out transmission making the transmission output as that all slave stations 3 can obtain a bit error rate required by the system by establishing the transmission level which adds an predetermined additional output required for 10<SP>-12</SP>to the transmission level corresponding to the alarm occurrence time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
