PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small wavelength selection device which can carry out the wavelength selection switching function that divides or multiplexes the wavelength, and can instantaneously specify the wavelength information to monitor. SOLUTION: The wavelength selection device 10 includes: a common port (COM port) and input/output ports (1<SP>st</SP>port-9<SP>th</SP>port); collimators 11-20 for collimating the incident light from each port; a diffraction grating 21; a condensing lens 22 for condensing the light which is spectroscopically separated by the diffraction grating 21; a MEMS mirror array 24 incorporating a number of MEMS mirrors 23<SB>1</SB>-23<SB>45;</SB>and a two-dimensional CCD array 25 for receiving the light passing through each of the MEMS mirrors 23<SB>1</SB>-23<SB>45</SB>. The device can instantaneously specify the wavelength of the light received through each port, by using the address consisting of the column and line numbers of pixels and monitor it based on the output signal of the two-dimensional CCD array 25.
