PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent reduction of productivity due to prolongation of a conveyance interval caused by switching of paper feeding trays when the number of image forming sheets and paper feeding sections are specified in association with each other within the total number of image forming sheets, and an image is formed on the sheet. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming section which forms the image, based on image data; the plurality of paper feeding sections which feed the paper to the image forming section; and a control section which allows setting for specifying the number of image forming sheets and the paper feeding sections in association with each other in the range of the number of sheets of a job for forming the image, and switches the paper feeding sections for each of the specified number of sheets to feed the paper. The control section obtains the number of sheets capable of being fed from the specified paper feeding section and a required number of sheets to be fed obtained by subtracting the number of fed sheets from the specified number of sheets and starts advance feeding from the paper feeding section scheduled to be switched, when it is determined that the number of sheets capable of being fed is the required number of sheets to be fed or more.
