PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indoor unit for an air conditioning system, capable of minimizing unevenness of temperature distribution in a room by enhancing the wind speed of cold air in cooling operation to reach the cold air to every corner of the room. SOLUTION: The indoor unit 11 includes: a first flap 23 capable of opening and closing the lower section of an outlet port 15, which is mounted on a casing 17 so as to be rotatable around a first rotary shaft 27 disposed so that its axial direction is substantially horizontal; a second flap 25 capable of opening and closing the upper section of the outlet port 15, which is mounted on the casing 17 to be rotatable around a second rotary shaft 29 disposed so that its axial direction is substantially horizontal, the second rotary shaft 29 being disposed substantially at the center in a direction vertical to the axial direction; and a control means which controls, during cooling operation, the first flap 23 to close the lower section of the outlet port 15 and the second flap 25 to open the upper section of the outlet port 15.
