<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To test a test piece while observing the static position of the test piece. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A material testing machine includes: a pair of actuators 2a, 2b for applying test force to a test piece TP; a control circuit 20 for controlling the pair of actuators 2a, 2b by feedback control of force or displacement and changing a proportion β of a feedback physical amount distributed to the pair of actuators 2a, 2b; observation means 7-9 for observing the test piece TP to which the test force is applied by the actuators 2a, 2b; and position changing means 10, 11, 15 for changing an observation point of the observation means 7 to the test piece TP according to the proportion β of the feedback physical amount.
