<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain high concentration efficiency regardless of the concentration of a slurry at the time of starting of vacuum concentration in a case that an inorganic slurry is concentrated by the vacuum concentration. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This concentrator 1 has a vacuum concentration part 1a for performing the vacuum concentration and a ceramic membrane filter part 1b for performing ceramic filtration using a ceramic membrane and also has a changeover control part 60 for changing over the filtration of the slurry 100 by the ceramic membrane filter part 1b and the concentration of the slurry 100 by the vacuum concentration part 1a. The changeover control part 60 filters a mixture using the ceramic membrane filter part 1b in the first stage low in the concentration of the slurry and changes over the filtration of the mixture to the concentration of the slurry by the vacuum concentration part 1a in the later stage higher in the concentration of the slurry than the first stage.
