In a method of moulding articles from an aqueous fibrous mixture by forcing the excess water out through perforations in the mould the material is injected through a channel 25 in a piston 24 into a mould cavity 32 between an outer cylinder 21 and a rubber sheath 31. The piston 24 is then advanced to cut off the supply of material and to compress the material in the mould so as to free some of the. excess water out through a perforated metal sheet 27 and channels 26 in the mould wall. The rubber sheath is then inflated by fluid supplied through a tube 30 to force more excess water out through the perforations.
