PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize rotation of an intermediate transfer body before and after the movement of an intermediate transfer body relative to an image holder. SOLUTION: The intermediate transfer device (BM) includes: an endless belt-like intermediate transfer body (B); primary transfer members (T1g to T1k) that primarily transfer images held on the corresponding image holders (Pg to Pk) onto the external surface of the intermediate transfer body (B); contact/separation intermediate transfer body support members (R1 to R5) supported so as to be movable between the contact position where the intermediate transfer body (B) is brought into contact with the image holders (Pg to Pk) and the separation position where the intermediate transfer body (B) is separated from the image holders (Pg to Pk); an electricity removal member (JB) that removes electricity from the back of the intermediate transfer body (B); and linking members (LN1 to LN5) that move the electricity removal member (JB) in the moving direction of the intermediate transfer body (B) linking with the movement of the intermediate transfer body (B) according to the movement between the contact position and separation position of the contact intermediate transfer body support members (R1 to R5).
