PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability in automatically cleaning an air filter. SOLUTION: This indoor unit of an air conditioner includes: a housing 2 provided with an air flow channel communicating a sucking section 3 and a supply section 5 inside thereof; a heat exchanger 8; an air distribution fan 7; an air filter 11 for catching and collecting suspended matters in the indoor air; a cleaning section 14 for removing the suspended matters caught and collected by the air filter from the air filter; and an elevating means 16 for vertically movably supporting the sucking section, the air filter and the cleaning section detachably from the housing. The cleaning section is composed of a collecting section for separating and collecting the suspended matters from the air filter, and a driving section for relatively moving the collecting section along a face of the air filter, and the driving section has a contact 18b electrically connected with a contact 18a of a power source disposed at a housing side, when the sucking section, the air filter and the cleaning section are mounted on the housing.
