[Also in Division G3] An electromagnetic clutch 24 for use in furnace electrode positioning apparatus is interposed between a motor 22 and gearing 25 and comprises a fan blade 92 mechanically coupled to the output shaft 90 of the motor, a clutch input member 93 disposed coaxially within a clutch control winding 26, and a clutch output member 94 which is mechanically coupled to an output shaft 96 and which is disposed coaxially within the member 93. The shaft 96 is coupled to the input shaft 97 of the gearing 25, and the speed of rotation of the former depends on the degree of excitation of the coil 26. The clutch 24 is associated with an electromagnetic operated friction brake 30. A double clutch assembly is described with reference to Fig. 3 (not shown).</p> |
