PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rocker arm assembly which improves adhesion between a DLC film and a substrate, prevents the DLC film from undesirably peeling off from the substrate, improves wear resistance, prevents surface damage at the initial state of the start in the driving of an engine or the like, prevents seizure and also excels subsequent lubricating conditions, and secures a sufficient durability. SOLUTION: The rocker arm assembly is obtained by applying a DLC film 12 to an axial substrate 8. The DLC film 12 includes: a surface layer as the outermost layer composed of amorphous hydrocarbon including sp2- and sp3-hybrid carbon; a substrate layer lying at the inside the surface layer, also facing the axial substrate 8 and at least containing chromium; and a chromium-tungsten carbide layer held between the surface layer and the substrate layer and containing chromium and tungsten carbide, and has an inclined structure where the content of tungsten carbide in the chromium-tungsten carbide layer increases from the substrate layer side toward the surface layer side.
