PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device and an imaging method which when recognizing a specific subject, changes imaging intervals, captures a plurality of images, and constitutes a high-definition image using the plurality of images captured. SOLUTION: The imaging device 10 includes: an attention subject candidate detection means 1 to detect an attention subject candidate from an image captured by an imaging means; an imaging interval setting means 2 which when the attention subject candidate detection means detects the attention subject candidate, changes the interval of imaging the attention subject candidate by the imaging means from a long-term imaging space interval to a short-term imaging interval; and a high-definition image composition means 3 to compose a high definition image using two or more sheets of images captured at short-term imaging intervals.
