The co-ordinate measurement apparatus, with a table (3) moving on a linear axis, has two pneumatic bearings to guide the side surfaces (4a,4b) at the base bed (2). Two bearings (15,18) are fixed at the opposite side to two movable bearings (14,17). The table is supported by a turntable (11) with a rotary axis (B) coinciding with an axis of the sliding table through temperature changes. The table side guide surfaces have a swallowtail cross section.
